Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development will contribute to the growth of the company by providing a suite of best-in- class services and solutions to our target clients. The ideal candidate will identify new business opportunities,
develop and maintain relationships with potential clients, and create strategies to maximize earnings. The

Director of Business Development should have strong communication and negotiation skills, a comprehensive understanding of the business development landscape, and the ability to generate innovative solutions to meet the needs of our clients. The candidate is expected to work independently within a team dynamic.

Hybrid Work Model (New York)
Base Salary Range ($150,000 to $300,000), also eligible for commission.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

Engage in self-driven business development to meet or exceed sales targets. The Director of Business
Development’s primary focus is to acquire new clients and drive revenue through the sale of Forward Risk’s
services and solutions across the corporate, legal, financial services, and government sectors in the United States,
Canada, and Mexico.

Establish and foster strong client relationships, while delivering top-quality service on time and within budget.
Achieve an annual revenue target of $1m -1.5m.

Consistent use of Salesforce to record meetings, prospecting activity, opportunities, and forecast revenue.
Develop clear commercial plan to identify sales strategies, assess revenue potential, and outline targeted activities to maximize revenue opportunities.

Secure client appointments, gather information on customer needs, and position and present Forward Risk’s services to solve client business issues and align with client objectives. Collaborate with Forward Risk executives, negotiate pricing, and finalize contracts. Proactively identify significant cross-selling opportunities with our Forward Global colleagues in public affairs, government affairs, and strategic communications.

Demonstrate an understanding of Forward Risk’s services, pricing, administrative procedures, and organization to effectively answer clients’ questions, or implement solutions in a timely fashion.

Maintain a current understanding of competitors’ offerings, and effectively sell the advantages of Forward Risk’s
services over those offered by competitors. Ability to work with colleagues in a close-knit team environment.

Essential Traits:

Minimum of 7+ years of relevant business development work experience selling professional services in a B2B
environment, ideally in the investigations and legal services industry or where professional services have formed the focus of the transaction.

BS/BA (MA/MS/MBA preferred) or equivalent in business, marketing, law, economics, or relevant commercial
experience. Strong written and verbal communication in English. (Additional languages such as French or Spanish a plus.)

Consultative/advisory approach, as well an ability to prioritize tasks through strong organizational and time
management.

Experience working in professional services companies in the past and understanding of services such as
background investigations, enhanced due diligence, and litigation support.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and Salesforce.

Enthusiasm, passion and a commitment to mutually successful outcomes for the client and Forward Risk are a must.

Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Ability to commute to the New York City office.

Familiarity and experience with the financial services market in New York City.
